Delivering the EU Green Deal: Industrial biotechnology into business
Feeding The Future
How biotechnology can enable more sustainable food systems
DSM regards biotechnology as a key enabler to develop more sustainable products, processes and solutions for the agriculture & food sector that are safe, healthy and scalable. We speak with DSM Chief Technology Officer, Marcus Remmers, about the developments in the field of alternative proteins, the need for more collaboration and open innovation, and DSM’s biotechnology activities in Austria, this year’s EFIB host country.

How can Europe reach its goal to be among the global leaders of sustainable innovation?
In Austria, the ‘3G rule’ applies to all events. This means participants must be tested, vaccinated or recovered from COVID to attend (as many have experienced moving around Europe this summer). Importantly, the venue is also a Covid testing site, so if you require a test to return to your own country, this can be easily done onsite. EuropaBio is finalising a full Covid Hygiene concept, as required by Austrian law, to be implemented for a safe event.

Learn more about the CARBAFIN project
In an interview, CARBAFIN coordinator Christiane Luley from acib GmbH discusses the industrial potential of the project‘s glycolisation approach and why it offers new industrial application opportunities for the food, chemical and cosmetics industry.
Programme of the pre-conference workshop
The future of CARBAFIN’s glycosylation technology in industrial production processes
Learn about the consortiums, find new collaboration partners and take part in joint expert’s discussion in world café format to exchange perspectives and requirements for production routes in terms of a circular economy. After the workshop everyone is invited to network further during the EFIB Welcome Reception starting at 18:00 CET.
