AMINEO combines a unique in-house technology with its own team’s know-how to design high-performing proteins accessible to any company in need of arbitrary tailor-made proteins (enzymes, peptides, antibodies, nanobodies, macromolecular assemblies…). It offers protein design services that deliver improved, modified or new protein molecular systems (in terms of specificity, selectivity, stability, solubility, structure…), either as amino acid sequences or as experimentally characterized macromolecules. The technological solutions of AMINEO rely on innovative computational protein design methods that combine biophysics models with in-house continuously developed AI automated reasoning and machine learning as well as robotics-inspired technologies, specifically adapted to protein modeling and design. The original automated reasoning capacities combine extreme accuracy, computational efficiency while offering the capacity to integrate together physical knowledge, design requirements and information extracted from data by machine learning. This enables the resolution of challenging design problems, with higher efficiency and an increased capacity in targeting hard to formalize design objectives that can be indirectly machine learned. They offer attractive solutions to accelerate and reduce costs for the development of new performance molecules that are inaccessible from natural diversity or synthetic chemistry. This design process has already been applied to design problems in the health (nanobody scaffold design), nanotechnology (self assembling proteins), bioenergy (improving the catalytic activity and thermo-resistance simultaneously) and environment (improving thermoresistance of a plastic degrading enzyme and the catalytic activity of a CO2 fixation enzyme) domains.
Which input provides your business model/core technology towards a bio-based economy?
To meet the challenges of the bioeconomy, it is necessary to be able to design tailor-made proteins endowed with properties and activities adapted to the development of innovative bioprocesses. In this context, AMINEO offers and deploys efficient and reliable technical solutions to accelerate and reduce costs for the customized development of new performance biomolecules.
Which market/clients do you address and which short-/long-term goals do you have?
The initial goal of the startup is to offer protein design services to companies that rely on proteins for their activity (biotechnologies, environment, health…). We will then license specific modules of our software. As our knowledge of the market develops, we will aim at developing specific partnerships to provide high-value targeted solutions addressing crucial needs of the bioeconomy.
What makes your approach unique compared to other stakeholders in this field?
Our protein design methods are based on the disruptive combination of biophysics models and innovative automated reasoning and machine learning AI algorithms, offering a radical change in the field, offering wide applicability, speed and precision. They can solve challenging design problems without the expensive, slow and sometimes impossible experimental setup that other approaches may require.
