Which input provides your business model/core technology towards a bio-based economy?
madebymade creates a full circular economy by using organic residues as input to feed our larvae. They process these residues and we receive locally produced animal protein, organic fertilizer, and fats. Our approach makes it possible to use residues wherever they arise because the plant we construct is modular and can therefore be implemented anywhere, contributing to a bio-based circular economy.
Which market/clients do you address and which short-/long-term goals do you have?
Our main product is the plant itself, for which there are a great variety of customers on a global scale. For our produced outputs, the protein creates the product which has a B2B orientation towards the pet feed and aquaculture industry. The organic fertilizer addresses both, the B2B and B2C market, and fats are B2B as well. Each product addressing a different niche.
What makes your approach unique compared to other stakeholders in this field?
Globaly, there are only a few insect breeding plants. Madebymade differentiates greatly by the circular economy approach of using residues as input and therby creating a zero waste production. The modular plant which can be used globally is a Unique Selling Point too. The impact can be replicated on a large scale, actively contributing to sustainability and local use of resources.
