Starting in 2017, Timen van Haaster is Public Affairs Manager at HollandBIO, the Dutch biotechnology industry association. HollandBIO unites and supports more than 175 companies that create novel technology and products that makes the world a healthier, more sustainable place. HollandBIO is the leading voice with which biotech players speak to policy makers, the media and the general public. HollandBIO works to ensure that biotech companies in The Netherlands will be able to thrive in a competitive, global market place. HollandBIO is a result of the merger between Niaba and BioFarmind in 2013.
Prior to working for HollandBIO, Timen was a communications and public affairs consultant for 5 years at MSL Group, one of the leading global agencies in this field and part of the Publicis Groupe.
He worked for a variety of clients, ranging from governments to companies and NGOs and from sectors like healthcare and pharma to parcel delivery and the biobased economy. During that time, he provided clients with strategic advice on (crisis) communications, positioning and public affairs. Timen holds a master in International Relations/International Organization from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. As part of this master, he completed a 9-month internship at a European Affairs agency in Brussels working for clients in the financial sector.
