Site visit @ BioWanze

Secure your ticket today – limited number of places available!

BioWanze is not only the largest bioethanol producer in Belgium, it is also a highly innovative bioethanol plant. The plant benefits from an energy autonomy ensured by a world-unique prototype of biomass-fired boiler that uses bran (outer shell of wheat), biogas and a by-product derived from distillation: fusel oil. The facility also supplies the public grid with green electricity and leverages a best-in-class portfolio of innovative products by developing integrated processes that valorise the components of unused raw materials. The company produces and distributes products with high added value and quality for the food and feed market, creates quality and sustainable products for agriculture, such as gluten, ProtiWanze® (feed proteins), the fibers of the GMP+ bran and fertilisers. By doing so, BioWanze practices an industrial-scale policy of “Zero waste“.

BioWanze is also focusing its research efforts on advanced biofuel production. The site visit will provide a unique insight into the R&D objectives of the company following the revised EU renewable energy directive. Visitors will also have the chance to learn about the role of the biorefinery on the protein market and the key collaboration with the multinational food ingredient producer, Beneo.
